Onboarding
Onboarding (employee induction and adaptation)
The process of inducting and adapting a new employee — from signing the contract through training and tool provision to independent performance.
What is Onboarding?
Onboarding is the process of inducting and adapting a new employee — from signing the employment contract through initial training, assignment of access rights, tools and a mentor, to the point at which the employee performs their role independently. Well-managed onboarding directly affects retention — studies show that quality onboarding reduces first-year turnover by up to 30%.
Typical onboarding in a company contains:
- Administration — signing the employment contract, registration with social security, health insurance, and tax authorities
- IT setup — laptop, phone, email, access to ERP, SSO, building access card
- Training — occupational health and safety, fire safety, internal GDPR training, product training
- Team integration — introduction to colleagues, mentor, 30/60/90-day plan
Onboarding is divided into pre-boarding (the period between contract signing and start date), first day, first week, and first 90 days.
When it is used
Every new hire — from junior to director — goes through onboarding. For an HR manager, automating onboarding is critical to ensure nothing is forgotten (e.g. deregistering a former employee during offboarding).

In Modulario
Onboarding in Modulario is orchestrated via the Workflows module — after the contract is signed, the system automatically generates a checklist of tasks for HR, IT, and the direct manager, triggers the assignment of training, and registers the employee in Attendance.
Modulario supports pre-boarding — before the start date, the candidate receives access to a portal where they can upload documents, sign the contract electronically (qualified electronic signature), and complete initial e-learning courses. On day one, the IT account, email, ERP access, and OHS training are ready, so the new employee starts productively from the first moment.
