LMS
Learning Management System
A system for managing employee training — courses, tests, certifications, progress tracking and mandatory training compliance.
What is an LMS?
LMS (Learning Management System) is software for managing corporate training and mandatory compliance education. It is used to create and distribute online courses, assign tests, track attendance and progress, record certifications, and automate reminders for periodic training (e.g. occupational health and safety, fire safety, professional licences).
In international B2B companies, an LMS addresses a critical compliance need: employers are typically legally required to provide regular training before employees start work and at recurring intervals. Without an LMS, companies typically track these obligations in spreadsheets, miss deadlines, and face penalties in labour inspections.
What a modern LMS offers:
- E-learning modules with video, text and interactive tests
- Automatic reminders before certification expiry
- Training records for audits (ISO, GDPR training)
- Integration with attendance — an employee cannot access a machine without valid training
When it is used
An LMS is essential in:
- Manufacturing and logistics (OHS, machine-specific training)
- Healthcare (mandatory certifications, continuing medical education)
- Financial services (AML training, MiFID II)
- ISO-certified companies (regular internal training)
See the Learning module, the Attendance module, and the manufacturing industry page.

In Modulario
The Learning module in Modulario fulfils the LMS function — it manages internal and external courses, periodic OHS training with automatic notifications, and archives certificates for audits. It integrates with Attendance for safety enforcement (e.g. blocking access if a training certificate has expired).
For periodic training (OHS, fire safety, high-risk work), Modulario automatically sends email invitations 30 days before expiry and blocks shift clock-ins when validity lapses. Certificates are generated automatically upon completion and stored in the employee personnel file in compliance with GDPR.
Many industries have specific LMS requirements — healthcare (continuing medical education credits), financial sector (AML training), transport (driver qualification cards). A properly configured LMS can cover all of these requirements in a single system.
