About the client

The Bratislava – Staré Mesto district is the heart of Slovakia’s capital — a historic core with a heritage zone, pedestrian areas, and restricted vehicle access. The district issues permits daily to residents, businesses, suppliers, and visitors, keeps records of parking spaces and tax exemptions, and monitors vehicle movement in the protected zone.

The challenge

Bratislava’s historic center faced a daily challenge: how to efficiently manage the agenda of entry and parking permits without an official being physically present for every application. The original process was manual, error-prone, and required rekeying data between several systems. The goals were:

• Central records of applications, permits, parking spaces, and vehicles
• Classification by type of applicant, type of application, and purpose of entry
• Automatic notifications about upcoming permit expiry
• Tracking of vehicle movement and hourly checks

The solution

Modulario delivered a platform with 12 interconnected data structures designed specifically for the entry and parking agenda in the heritage center:

• Applications and permits — digital records of entry applications and parking permits
• Type of applicant and type of application — enumerations for classification (resident, business, supplier, visitor, etc.)
• Purpose of entry — a defined enumeration of purposes for permit categorization
• Parking spaces — records of individual spaces with vehicle assignment
• Vehicles linked to applications and permits
• Vehicle movement and Hourly vehicle check — tracking of permit usage over time
• Tax exemption — a separate agenda for exempt entities
• Persons — natural persons appearing in applications
• Country as an enumeration for license plates outside Slovakia
