QR platba
QR payment (Pay by Square)
A QR code on an invoice that contains all the details needed for payment — the customer scans it in their banking app and the payment is filled in automatically.
What is QR platba (QR payment)?
QR platba (QR payment), known in Slovakia and the Czech Republic under the brand name Pay by Square (from the Slovak Banking Association, 2013), is a QR code printed on an invoice that contains all the details needed for a bank transfer — the payee’s IBAN, amount, variable symbol, constant symbol, specific symbol, and a text message. The customer scans the QR code in their mobile banking app and the payment form fills in automatically — they just confirm.
Pay by Square has become a de facto standard in Slovakia and the Czech Republic — supported by all major banks and virtually every accounting system. In e-commerce it is used primarily as an alternative to card payment where the customer prefers a bank transfer.
Advantages over manual entry:
- No typos in IBAN, variable symbol or amount
- Faster payment = better company cash flow
- Lower charges than card payments (a EUR SEPA transfer typically costs the bank €0)
When it is used
QR payment is a standard component of:
- Issued B2B invoices (expected by clients in Slovakia and CZ)
- Online store bank transfers
- Payment invitations for events (conferences, courses)
- Donation buttons and sponsorships
See the Invoicing module and the e-commerce industry page.

In Modulario
The Invoicing module in Modulario automatically generates a Pay by Square QR code on every issued invoice — the customer pays in 5 seconds on their mobile. The format fully complies with the official Slovak Banking Association specification.
When a customer pays via QR code, Modulario automatically matches the incoming SEPA payment to the invoice based on the variable symbol and amount. The accountant does not have to match payments manually — this also works when importing a bank statement in XML camt.053 format.
In mobile banking apps, QR code scanning is typically right on the home screen. The customer pays the invoice in 5 seconds compared to the original 2–3 minutes of manual entry — a measurable impact on the timeliness of company collections.
