Modulario vs. Airtable: flexible spreadsheet versus an EU-ready ERP
Airtable is great for rapid prototypes and small team databases. But once you need invoicing, accounting, an integrated email client, GDPR audit trail and EU hosting, you hit its limits. Modulario covers the entire business process and stays in Europe.

- You are looking for localisation for Slovak VAT, e-kasa and bank integration

Ako prejsť z Airtable
- 1
Audit of Airtable bases and fields
We map your bases, tables, field types and relations. We identify which Airtable processes are real business processes and which are simple lists that belong inside Modulario modules.
- 2
Schema design in Modulario
We design how your tables translate into Modulario data structures — customers, projects, tasks, records, files. What was a view in Airtable is often a separate module in Modulario.
- 3
CSV export and import
We pull all data via Airtable CSV export. The import into Modulario uses column mapping, deduplication and validation. Attachments and files are migrated through the API.
- 4
Reconstruction of automations
Airtable Automations are translated into Modulario workflows. Typically: email notifications, record creation, integrations with Slack and Google. Modulario does this natively without Zapier.
- 5
Training and switch-over
The team goes through a 2-hour training — for most users the transition is straightforward, since Modulario uses similar list/detail logic to Airtable.
Frequently asked questions
Why should we leave Airtable for GDPR reasons?
Airtable hosts data in the USA on AWS. For companies processing personal data of EU citizens this means complex SCC and TIA analyses. Modulario hosts in the EU (Slovakia/Germany) and signs a standard DPA, which removes most GDPR concerns.
Can Modulario handle every field type Airtable has?
Yes and no. Modulario supports all common types (text, number, date, select, attachments, relations). Specific Airtable fields like Rollup or Lookup are handled through configurable attributes and forms. Complex calculations are done via the Equations framework.
How much does the move from Airtable cost?
A migration for a small team (up to 20 users) typically costs EUR 1,500-4,000 depending on the number of bases and automations. The Modulario licence from EUR 12/user/month is usually cheaper than the Airtable Business plan (USD 54/user) over a 3-year horizon.
Will we lose Airtable's flexibility?
Not entirely. Modulario has configurable modules, custom fields, views and workflows. You will lose the extreme 'build everything yourself' freedom, but you gain structure, audit log, permissions and business logic that you would otherwise have to bolt onto Airtable.
How long does the migration from Airtable take?
Typically 2-4 weeks for a company with 5-10 bases. The main challenge is rebuilding automations and views as Modulario business processes. The data import itself is a matter of days.
We have external consultants and clients in Airtable. How will we handle this?
Modulario supports external users with restricted permissions (guest users), permalink sharing and so-called public portals where the client only sees their own data. Same use cases, safer execution.
