Automatic weighing at goods receiving and dispatch
When receiving or dispatching goods, the worker places the package on the scale — Modulario automatically transfers the measured weight into the document line. Verification against the declared weight happens immediately and alerts on discrepancies.
Weight-based picking systems in the warehouse
Warehouses dealing in bulk materials, chemicals, or loose food items use scale integration with pick orders. The scale displays the required quantity, the worker weighs until the target value is reached.
Postage and shipping cost calculation
At the dispatch station, every package is automatically weighed and the weight feeds into the freight cost calculation. Modulario Transport selects the tariff band and adds the shipping charge to the dispatch document.

- 1 Verify your scale has an RS-232 (COM), USB virtual COM, or network interface.
- 2 In Modulario, go to Settings → Integrations → Scales and click Add Scale.
- 3 Select the manufacturer (Mettler Toledo, Sartorius, Kern, Adam, Ishida) or choose a generic protocol (Sievert/COM).
- 4 Set communication parameters (baud rate, stop bits, parity) according to the scale manual.
- 5 Assign the scale to a workstation (receiving, dispatch, shipping, production) and test with a weight record transfer.
Frequently asked questions
Which scale protocols are supported?
Mettler Toledo SICS, Sartorius XBase, Kern (generic RS-232), Adam/Adam Equipment, Ishida command protocol. For scales without a standard protocol, a configurable ASCII parser is available.
Can I connect multiple scales at different workstations?
Yes, Modulario supports an unlimited number of scales — each assigned to a workstation and document type. Workers at a given station automatically see results from their own scale.
How are scale calibration and certificate validity managed?
Modulario tracks service intervals and calibration certificates for scales in the Asset module. A notification about an upcoming calibration automatically creates a service request.
